E-QIP’s Foundations to QI (IDEAS) e-learning course is a FREE comprehensive quality improvement (QI) course designed for the community mental health and addiction sector based on the Model for Improvement (MFI). Upon completion of this course, learners will:
- Be well-versed in key MFI QI concepts, methodology and terminology,
- Have the skills to confidently use and apply QI tools and methods, and
- Be ready to participate in and contribute to QI projects and initiatives at their home organization or workplace.
E-QIP’s IDEAS e-learning course is an adaptation of the original IDEAS program developed in partnership between Health Quality Ontario (now part of Ontario Health), the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) and the Institute of Health Policy Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto for the community mental health and addiction (MHA) sector. This course is completely asynchronous (self-guided) and uses a variety of learning tools and techniques including an MHA-based case study, videos, learning activities and knowledge checks to reinforce key concepts. Learners are encouraged to reflect and document their learnings throughout the course in their course workbook. This course will take approximately 8-12 hours to complete.
This course aims to provide participants with a foundational knowledge in quality improvement based on the Model for Improvement. Participants who complete this course will have the necessary skills to confidently use QI tools and methods and participate in QI projects and initiatives at their home organization or workplace.
(1) Clinical, support and administrative/volunteers working in Ontario’s community mental health and addiction sector who are or would like to participate in QI projects and consider themselves novice or in need of a refresh and (2) individuals with an interest in understanding and learning about QI and promoting the spread of QI knowledge within their organization.
